Empowering through Information, Communication, Technologies & Climate Smart Agribusiness.

We are located in rural Vihiga County , the second smallest county in Kenya with a high density population affected by HIV/AIDS, food crisis and limited economic resources for the youth to make informed career and entrepreneurial choices.

Culturally rural youth and women land ownership and decision making power is low resulting in high unemployment and dependency on well wishers for basic needs like food. Amazing Climate Smart Agriculture is a green skills of the future financial literacy training model to learn basic business skills in urban and traditional farming methods that utilize the available small spaces, recycle reusable materials and integrates technology for production of nutritious African leafy vegetables to start an Agribusiness in 2 weeks or less. Recipients gain in depth knowledge and understanding of climate change effects on Vihiga and the related challenges to take meaningful climate action to become a global leader in fighting climate change.

We train on best technical hands on and scientific research based vertical and oyster mushroom farming practices, employ in technology roles and create or connect to a supply chain market for rural youth and young women to earn a sustainable decent income, access nutritious food and be self reliant from high turnover African leafy vegetables and oyster mushrooms while raising awareness on women land rights.

Ivy Apetsi Ameka, Alumni & Managing Director, Kwa Mushroom Farm

“Learning how to use technology and recycle materials to start vertical farming can protect the environment from pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, it can promote a circular economy and provide alternative sources of livelihood for women and youth involved in the primary production of vegetables and oyster mushrooms as a source of income.”

Agriculture is the taproot of Kenya’s economy but the majority of the existing land parcels in Vihiga are filled with granite rock that make the land inadequate and unproductive for commercial farming.

Providing Unemployed Youth with Basic Financial Literacy, Agribusiness Starter Kits, and Applied Digital Skills.

  • Provide Starter Kits for Agribusiness Sponsorship

We are seeking support with contributions of $15 or less per month to provide Agribusiness starter kits and financial services to youth and women in need. These services include a model farm stand using locally available materials, business training, capital seeds, access to peer exchange learning, and connection to local and urban market buyers. Our model farm helps unemployed youth learn skills to start a social enterprise, sell harvests from high-turnover leafy vegetables and oyster mushrooms, and earn a decent income. Funds from demonstration harvests support school feeding programs, expand our learning exchange programs, and strengthen global partnerships to provide secondary education sponsorship. Join us in supporting this worthy cause!

  • Support the Development of Digital Skills for the Future.

By committing less than $40 per month, you can support the development of future technology talent with a focus on environmental awareness, digital safety, and Agriculture sustainability in rural Vihiga. This includes promoting design thinking innovation, computer science skills, and online safety awareness. The initiative also aims to increase the number of girls with skills in Agritech and computer programming. Additionally, the program increases the number of rural female educators who can create income opportunities through ICT products, teach digital skills, and promote digital economic trade in under-served rural areas of Vihiga by empowering youth and women with lifelong education technology and basic computer skills.

We advance early digital literacy and equal access to economic empowerment for rural youth affected by poverty with disabilities, girls often denied access to education and orphaned children affected by HIV/AIDS.
