Unleashing the potential of at-risk Kenyan youth

STEM Education

The InspireHER STEM Trust, in partnership with Amazing Grace Center Kenya, is dedicated to promoting education for young girls and women in the rural regions of Vihiga County. Scholarships we provide offer mentorship, computational thinking, engineering design training, and career coaching through climate smart empowerment sessions, to develop women leadership and STEM problem-solving skills. After graduating, mentees pay it forward by mentoring a new mentee and volunteering their skills thus creating a network of sisterhood that benefits both the sustainability of the organization and Vihiga community.

Secondary education and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) problem-solving skills are fundamental in developing the human resource needed for the development of a nation. Our Center contributes to the education of young adults in the rural areas of Vihiga County by filling in the gaps that are not addressed by the under resourced schools through one-one academic and goal setting support. Mentoring sessions are run on a weekly basis with the help of in person and virtual mentors.

We are dedicated to supporting young people by addressing their specific needs and life challenges through the talking box, an open forum where students submit anonymous questions for real world guidance from experts. From college counseling to financial guidance, we offer a range of services to help them succeed. Additionally, we organize leadership building activities during the school holidays to help enhance their social skills and encourage them to pursue their talents.

Through Technology sponsorships, young adults have opportunities to gain work based knowledge and skills in basic computer usage through access to Amazing Grace Center community computers and the long term goal to invest in a computer laboratory. This aligns with the mission of the Kenya Digital Economy Blueprint, which seeks to provide digital access and capabilities to all citizens, enterprises, and organizations to participate and succeed in the digital economy.

Our goal is to create a youth resource and recreation center that includes an ICT section, music/talents section, indoor and outdoor games sections, as well as a vertical garden model farm. We believe that by providing centralized resources, we can support and shape the lives of young adults as they pursue their dreams and work towards becoming successful, independent adults.
